Baby Zoe
Dear
friends and family,
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
Psalm 62:1
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
I must start off this letter with two things. One of them is I am sorry that the last update I sent out was from a different computer than the one that has my email lists, so some of you did not receive it. Therefore I am attaching the last email below.
Second I would like to start off by again saying thank you so much for all the prayers, notes of encouragement and help that has been given to us at this time. We Are truly grateful and cannot express enough how much it has meant to us. We are just overwhelmed with gratitude.
The latest news on Zoe is, so far it looks like Friday she will be going for her open heart surgery. A lot of babies with critical conditions have shown up this week so we got pushed to the last of the week. As long as there are no more emergency cases coming in we should stick to Friday but there is a possibility of her going next week.
The doctor came in to give us a little more information on her operation on Monday. She said that her defect (the VSD) is quite large and it is very close to her arteries. This means that now not only will they be opening her chest but also her heart and it is going to make the surgery a little more complicated and take longer.
The doctor also told us that with these particular surgeries they have a very good success rate, but the real risks and worries for Zoe are during her recovery time. Because she is so young and small she might need to be on the ventilators longer and there is always a risk of infection. It really is a matter of how strong she is and how much her body can take.
So far I have not been staying in the hospital with Zoe because the way the hospital is setup I would not been in the room with Zoe but in a separate section of the wing, sharing a room with other mothers. Also it was less expensive for me to stay in a hotel with Chello. Only after she is moved out of the ICU, after surgery will we have a room where I can be with her 24/7.
Last night we moved from a hotel into our friend’s apartment. They only have a small one bedroom, but bless their hearts they were willing to give us a place to stay and even packed a lunch for us. We also have another friend here who offered his apartment as a place to stay because it is looking like we will still be here for about two weeks after the surgery if there are no complications.
Living here is getting kind of expensive just with eating, transportation and normal living so we are very grateful for all the help we are getting
Zoe has been busy winning over the doctors and nurses here. Even today a bunch of student doctors came to practice an examination on Zoe and she was cooing and smiling at each one of them. She is so smiley, talky and happy you would almost never know she was sick. She is making this hospital a bit brighter for us.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
Psalm 107:8
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18
So thank you all again, we really must thank all of you for all the ways you have been supporting us. We are so grateful all the ways the Lord has been providing through you.
Chello,
Meghan & Zoe Johnson
