Spring is here!
Dear
Friends and Family,
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one
who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”
Here we
are once again in a new season and a new season of life. As life starts to
spring back up around us, I feel life growing in my belly. We are so blessed in
this season and I can’t wait to share with you all in it.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on
us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our
hands.
A big
blessing to arrive in Veľky Krtiš is we received government funding to start a
Christian based Community Center. The result of this is, in our church building
we now have an office with 6 employees (Chello is one of them) who are focused
on serving the community in all aspects of life. This group has already helped
some unemployed people find jobs; they have started a “Mothers Club” , which is
basically free childcare three days a week; and are helping a family whose sole
provider cannot work for health reasons.
Chello is
loving this work and is incredibly happy to have a 9 to 5 job that is still
focused on doing Kingdom work. He also meets with his boys multiple times a
week and is still leading in the youth services and teahouse. He is incredibly
busy, but grateful for the opportunities.
As for God, His way is perfect: The Lord’s
word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.
Indeed
God’s ways are perfect! A
young lady named Veronika has moved to VK from the east of Slovakia because she
found work- in a town with 35% unemployment. Even more impressive, in
Bratislava she was in a Bible study with Ester Kriskova, a woman who was one of
the key tools God used in my life to bring me to Slovakia.
I am
already meeting with Veronika weekly; and yes, she is the fourth Veronika I am
mentoring in SK. She is such a sweet, grateful and positive young lady. I am
blessed by this relationship that God has put together and I am so happy that
God would use me to bless others.
I have
also started a new ladies’ Bible study. We are meeting on Friday nights and
currently going to through an 8 week study called “The Gospel Primer”.
Our
focus for the next 8 weeks is to get ourselves into a Gospel mindset and
practicing sharing the gospel in all aspects in our lives and throughout our
community.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the
birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your
heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:25-26
Some of
you have known that we have been having some issues with our landlord and some
of the “fees” coming up regarding our apartment over the last year. Well things
have not improved in this home, but I am happy to say that God has provided for
us a 3 bedroom apartment. We have not signed the contract yet but are hoping to
do so in the next few weeks and we should be moving on May 1st.
This is a huge blessing not
only because of our issues here, but also because of the extra bedroom we will
not have to move Zoe back and forth from our room each time we have a house
guest. As you know we have people staying with us all year long and we love it,
but with our family growing this current place would not be so accommodating to
this lifestyle. This will just make it that much more convenient for us to be
good hosts. We are really excited.
For I know that through your prayers and
God’s provision of the Spirit of
Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.
Speaking
of Zoe, She is doing AMAZING! Not one hiccup or glitch in her recovery. In fact
we already had her checkup in Banska Bystrica and they said she looks so good that
we never have to come back, unless we notice some problem.
This is
a big relief for us because as you know we have been traveling to BB for
monitoring and checkups at least 8 times a year since Zoe was born.
The
condition in her heart is holding steady, and that is a good thing. As long as
it stays as it is and doesn’t worsen, she will not need to have the balloon
procedure done. Even in Bratislava, the doctor told us she will no longer need
to be admitted into the hospital for her checkups and we only need to come
twice a year. Praise God!
Baby
Johnson 2.0 seems to be right on track; so far everything looks just as it
should be. I am 18 weeks and nearly half way there already. Soon Chello and I
should be finding out if we will be having a boy or girl. Stay tuned. We are
super excited for this little addition to our family.
Pray continually, give thanks in all
circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians
5:17-18
Prayer Requests~
The Lord
will lead our steps and we will let Him.
For all
to go smoothly with the contract signing for the new apartment, and swift
moving.
Continued
good health for Zoe and Baby Johnson 2.0
For
Veronika, that she will settle in well and start to feel at home in VK
Let the peace of Christ rule in your
hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Thank
you all for sharing in the joys of this season and in our life and work in
Veľky Krtiš. We are blessed by your encouragement, prayers and support beyond
words. Thank you all so much!
Chello, Meghan, Zoe & Baby Johnson
